THE
AMAZING AEROSPACE
COLLECTION
Below are all my Amazing Aerospace short stories - to support my poster art exhibition at the Mornington Community Arts Space, Vancouver Street, Mornington 3931, Australia which ran between 9th December 2025 and 20th January 2026. The exhibition has finished now but all the art works can be viewed at rupert-design.
Amazing Aerospace is a project where I reimagine aircraft of the past and imagine what the future holds for human space exploration. These short stories (the burning line series) are to illustrate how people interacted with and will interact with these airships, aeroplanes and space craft.

The Seven Basic Plots is a book written by Christopher Booker in 2004. In his book Christopher describes how just about all fiction can be classified as belonging to one of seven basic plot lines. I took this idea when thinking about the plot lines for my short stories. With reference to Christopher's plots:
Rags to Riches: A person rises from poverty to wealth and social status. Skyluxe, the yound woman's escape from Singapore.
Rebirth: A character undergoes a transformation and is reborn, often after facing a reckoning. Tarkine, and conclusion of the epic Tarkine project.
Comedy: A story with a lighthearted and humorous tone, typically ending with a happy resolution. Aircat, but not quite resolved. He has more to do.
Overcoming the Monster: A hero or heroine faces and overcomes an evil force. Mondiale, and the Devil's Cupid virus.
Voyage and Return: A character travels to a foreign land and experiences a change before returning home. Archangel II and how the voyage to Mars and back changes lives.
The Quest: A character embarks on a journey to find something of value. Verdajuvel, the young clone seeks to find and look at the face of the Universe.
There is also tragedy, but I felt there was enough of that in the World without me adding to it.
